Description:
The main challenge of the MIGRA MIÑO - MINHO Project is to improve the protection and sustainable management of the natural border area that constitutes the international sub-basin of the Miño River, including its affluents, by improving the conditions of the river habitat and measures to improve the preservation status of the migratory fish populations present in the area. This will contribute to the preservation and enhancement of traditional fishing activities, as well as to the sustainable socio-economic development of the cross-border territory, by responding to the practical needs of commercial activities with fisheries, tourism or the energy sector.

Description of the 2 projects:
MarRisk aims to ensure smart and sustainable growth of the coastal areas of Galicia and Northern Portugal by assessing the most important coastal risks in a climate change scenario. Floods, intensification of extreme events, episodes of toxic algae or coastal erosion are examples of risks to be analysed in order to improve the resilience of traditional economic sectors and other emerging sectors such as marine renewable energies. This will improve the adaptation of the Cooperation Area to potential disasters and develop applications and services to ensure a coordinated response, as environmental risks require a cross-border approach.

Radar on Raia aims to strengthen cross-border coastal observation through the integration and valorisation of innovative High Frequency Radar technology, which will enable new products and services to be offered to key sectors for the Galicia-North Portugal Cooperation Area.
These products will improve the management of maritime emergencies, the characterisation of marine energy resources, the management of marine litter, port management and maritime traffic and the management of coastal risks. All of them will be easily transferable to productive sectors, mainly the ICT and renewable energy sectors with the capacity to create value from information.

Description:
The abundance of the European eel (Anguilla anguilla) has been declining in the last 50 years and is outside safe biological limits, which guarantee the survival of the species. For this reason, the European eel has been included in the IUCN Red List of threatened species. Even though the EU established a Recovery Plan in 2007, the population has not recovered. In this context, a joint assessment is needed to obtain better knowledge and cooperation between the stakeholders involved.
SUDOANG provides managers with common tools and methods that contribute to the conservation of the European eel and its habitat in the SUDOE area.

Description:
Neurological diseases are disorders that affect the central nervous system and can impair the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerve or neuromuscular function. Most of these diseases are directly related to ageing, with alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and stroke being especially relevant due to their incidence and the economic burden they carry. More tan 7.5 million European citizens aged between 30 and 99 years suffer from different types of dementia.
NeuroATLANTIC Project contributes to Address this challenge by proposing new standardized clinical protocols, innovative diagnostic and treatment methods and ensuring technology transfer to enterprises to favor the uptake of innovations in real settings.
